Corporate Show, Office Party
Companies are spending more resources on diversity training. Additionally, they are creating more equitable environments. In the process, music and arts are called on to foster greater understanding. Many of the musicians in Riyaaz Qawwali have full-time jobs. They are employed in oil & gas, in healthcare, and even higher education. And so, they are all too familiar with corporate expectations and the demands of such an environment. We can relate to the 9 to 5 grind. So, corporation shows have involved using us as:
- Create harmony Within- Using this art, we can bridge cultural barriers within teams. We can tangibly showcase what diversity is. Given the political climate, we can also speak to the racism being experienced, how similar we as people really are and elevate the conversation.
- Corporate show celebrates Eid, Diwali or Holi- Corporations can use our ensemble as at their holiday parties. We can help celebrate any Hindu, Sikh, or Muslim festivals. The performances include traditional songs, in eastern languages. Importantly, our performances are interspersed with dialogue (in English) which gives context to the festival and the songs being sung).
- Understand an emerging customer base- Other corporation have used our music and performances to help their brand or their employees. Our performances help them understand a growing customer-base of South Asian Americans. This minority of 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation immigrants are the fastest growing population in the United States. This population accounts for a large number of affluent people, including doctors, lawyers, engineers and business owners.
- Expand out to India / Pakistan / Sri Lanka- Finally, South Asia (India, Pakistan Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bhutan and Maldives) is a densely populated area of the world. Corporations are using our showcases to expand their brand’s reach to South Asia.
